Frequently asked questions

Questions, answered.

A few of the things people most often ask before reaching out. If yours isn’t here, send it through the contact form.

  • Do you offer online (telehealth) therapy?

Yes. Most of our care happens by secure video, so you can meet with your therapist from home or anywhere private and comfortable in California or New York.

  • Do you offer in-person sessions?

Yes, with one of our clinicians. Celina Alvarez Marroquin sees clients in person in Rochester, New York, in addition to telehealth. Dr. Angela Horng works by telehealth. Let us know your preference when you reach out and we will match you accordingly.

  • Which states do you serve?

We work with clients who are physically located in California or New York at the time of their session, consistent with licensure requirements.

  • Who do you work with?

We see individuals, couples, and families, with particular care for people from minority and marginalized communities. Our work is culturally-sensitive and attuned to each person’s background and history.

  • What can therapy help with?

Common reasons people reach out include neurodiversity and relational functioning, anxiety and stress, depression and mood, trauma and PTSD (including intergenerational trauma), couples and family relationships, and life transitions. Culture and identity are woven through every area, not treated as a separate topic.

  • What therapy approaches do you use?

Our work is trauma-informed and grounded in a multicultural perspective. Within that, we draw on attachment-based therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT and third-wave interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Somatic Experiencing. We tailor the mix to you.

  • How do I get started?

Send a message through our contact form with a little about what is bringing you in. We will reply to set up a free consultation: a short, no-obligation call to see whether we are the right fit.

  • How much does therapy cost, and do you take insurance?

We will talk through fees and payment options during your free consultation so you have a clear picture before deciding to begin.

  • Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Therapy is private and protected under HIPAA and professional ethics, with limited legal exceptions, such as when there is a risk of serious harm. Your therapist will review confidentiality and its limits with you at the start of care.

  • What if I am in crisis?

This website and practice cannot respond to emergencies. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911, or call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.
