Culturally responsive therapy

Therapy where you do not have to translate yourself first.

Culture, race, identity, family systems, and lived experience belong in the therapy conversation. Our clinicians bring a multicultural, trauma-informed perspective to every session, by secure video across California and New York.

Sound familiar?

You might be in the right place if…

  • You have felt like past therapists did not really understand where you are coming from.

  • Your anxiety, mood, or relationship struggles are tangled up with culture, identity, or family expectations.

  • You are tired of spending sessions explaining the basics of your background before the real work can start.

  • You want a therapist who considers the whole person and their cultural and relational context, not symptoms in isolation.

How we can help

What this work looks like here

Every clinician at Untangled Threads works from a culturally responsive, culturally humble foundation. That means your background is treated as context that shapes the work, not a footnote to it. We draw on attachment-based therapy, CBT and third-wave methods, ACT, motivational interviewing, and Somatic Experiencing, and tailor the mix to you.

We work with individuals, couples, and families on anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodiversity, relationships, and life transitions, always through an intersectional lens.
