Therapy for BIPOC adults

Therapy for BIPOC adults who have felt misunderstood in the room.

Maybe a past therapist minimized what race and culture mean in your life, or you have been holding it all without support. Therapy here starts from the understanding that those experiences are real and belong in the work.

Sound familiar?

You might be in the right place if…

  • A previous therapist glossed over the role of race or culture in what you were carrying.

  • You are exhausted from code-switching and being the only one in the room.

  • Experiences of racism or exclusion sit in your body as stress, vigilance, or anger.

  • You want care that is affirming without needing a disclaimer first.

How we can help

What this work looks like here

Untangled Threads was built around care for minority and marginalized communities. Our clinicians work from decolonial and social-justice-oriented frameworks alongside attachment-based, cognitive, and somatic methods, and treat racialized and intergenerational experiences as legitimate clinical material, not tangents.

We also pay attention to how anxiety, depression, trauma, and neurodivergence can present differently in BIPOC communities, and how often they are missed or misread as a result.

Curious about the methods? See our glossary of specialties and approaches.
